We are very excited to announce that church camp is on this year at Camp Somerset. It is a stunning campground nestled in amongst the beautiful hills. We have two options for accommodation. There will be on site camping available for those who love to sleep in a tent, and cabins with an en-suite and kitchenette for those who don’t love tents. There is a pool and lake on site for lots of water fun, as well as lots of grassy areas for sport and running around.

Our speaker for camp is a guy called L-T Hopper. He’s preaching two talks for us over the weekend, but before camp rolls around here’s a bit of information so you can know him better!

“L-T is married to Belinda and they have three children. L-T has had various experiences as a pastor (one included hiring Ryan and Sarah Holmes as Ministry Trainees at Lakeshore church in Buderim!), but is now working with Katoomba Christian Conventions. L-T grew up in a Christian family but came to understand that Christ died for him as a teenager. L-T goes cycling with mates a few mornings a week and enjoys a good coffee. He’ll stay up all hours to watch the Tour de France.

The passage of the Bible that has impacted L-T the most is Romans 5:8,“God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

 

Cost Information

Cabins

There are 13 Cabins (2 are mobility friendly)

The cabins are 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. 1 bedroom sleeps 8 in 4 bunk bed and 1 bedroom sleeps 2 in single beds (there is space for a porta cot).

Minimum occupancy in a cabin is 6 people. People can arrange to share, or we can do this for you. For example, a couple and family of four could share.

Cabin prices per person:

Adults: $82.00 (includes Friday and Saturday)

Ages 11-16: $61.50 (includes Friday and Saturday)

Ages 6-10: $41.00 (includes Friday and Saturday)

Ages: 0-5: Free

Camping

There is some tent space available close to the main complex, but space and shower facilities are limited. Priority will be given to families with young children.

There is more space in the downhill “barn” area for tents, caravans or camper trailers, with ample bathroom facilities.

Camping prices per person:

Adults: $17.00 per night ($34 for Friday and Saturday)

Ages 11-16: $12.75 per night ($25.50 for Friday and Saturday)

Ages 6-10: $8.50 per night ($17.00 for Friday and Saturday)

Ages 0-5: Free

Catering prices

Friday dinner will be self-catered.

Adults and High School kids (12 years and over): Saturday - $15, Sunday - $10.

Children (Ages 4-11): Saturday - $10, Sunday - $5.

Toddlers (0-3): Free

I am aware, in signing this document regarding my participation this program, that certain elements of the program could be physically and emotionally demanding. Furthermore, I understand that certain inherent risks and dangers may exist in the activities in which I will be participating. I acknowledge that while the organisation and its leaders will make every reasonable effort to minimise exposure to known risks, all hazards and dangers associated with these activities cannot be foreseen or may be beyond the control of the organisation, its leaders and staff. In the event of any emergency where my nominated contact people are unavailable: 1. I authorise the leaders to obtain medical advice and/or assistance which they deem necessary. 2. I further authorise qualified practitioners to administer anaesthetic if required. 3. I accept all operation, blood transfusion and/or anaesthetic risks involved in the event that such procedures are deemed necessary. 4. I accept the responsibility for payment and agree to pay medical, transport and any other related expenses. 5. I confirm that the information contained in this application is true and correct. 6. I agree to inform the leader of any change to these details. Additionally I agree to Camp Somerset Conditions of: SAME RATES APPLY for late arrivals or early departures (I.E each person staying in cabins who stays overnight (even if only one night) must pay the full weekend rate for cabins.) No alcohol to be brought into the camp or consumed on site. No pets to be brought on the camp site. All pet care must be prearranged before coming to Camp Drewe. No food, coffee, lollies, incense, candles, crayons, felt pens, ball games in the conference room. No Smoking in the facilities. No water bombs, face/body paint or shaving cream activities in or near buildings. Mattresses must be covered with a sheet before use, and sleeping bags alone are no sufficient. No noisy outside activities to be held after 10PM as a courtesy to the neighbours. No Pork Policy on camp Somerset Boats not permitted on dam prior to dawn or after dusk.
